The MuddyRedLandRover is a 1989 110 Commercial Station Wagon built by Land Rover Special Vehicles for SWEB.
5 door Commercial Station wagon with external lockers in rear side panels. 4 Seats in black vinyl (standard Land-Rover re-trimed in the front and Exmoor Trim hi-backs in the back). Body is hand-painted in International Tractor Red, I re-paint it every couple of years or so using a 2" or 3" decent quality brush, a warm day helps the paint flow, you can get a really good finish if you take your time. I don't worry about the finish too much, lifes too short for sanding down between coats.
Land-Rover 200Tdi engine 'tweeked' a bit. The fuel pump has been tinkered with and the exhaust and air supply are modified. On a GPS its top speed is 93mph but it will still return 33mpg if driven sensibly.
Britpart yellow +2” spec springs and long travel Pro-Comp gas dampers on the front and Terrafirma Expedition Big Bore dampers on the back, Discovery2 coil isolators at the front along with Llama4x4 drop turrets. Rear coils are clamped in to prevent dislocation.
Salisbury axle with Quaife Limited slip differential
(factory fitted by Land-Rover at build). Polybush blue suspension bushes to front, standard Land–Rover at rear.
Wheels and tyres.
8 spoke wheels and BF Goodrich 255/85x16 MT km tyres. I've been using
this size of tyre for years as its
the best compromise for the use the vehicle gets, gearing is upped slightly to
aid economy and relaxed cruising speed. The offset is slightly less engine
braking control on very steep offroad descents.
